1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions apply to all Flight Experience Vouchers issued by North Wales Gliding Club (NWGC). By purchasing, holding, or redeeming a voucher, you agree to these Terms. These Terms do not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
NWGC is a volunteer‑run, non‑profit gliding club operating from Llantysilio Aerodrome, Llandegla. All flights are delivered by qualified British Gliding Association (BGA) instructors.
2. Nature of the Voucher
- A voucher entitles the holder to a glider flight experience as described at the time of purchase.
- Vouchers are not airline tickets and do not guarantee a specific date or time.
- All flights are weather‑dependent, operationally dependent, and subject to instructor availability.
- The experience may vary depending on conditions on the day.
3. Voucher Validity
- Vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase unless stated otherwise.
- The flight must be completed within the validity period.
- Extensions may be offered at the Club’s discretion and may be subject to a small administration fee.
- Lost vouchers may be reissued if proof of purchase is provided.
4. Booking a Flight
- Flights must be booked in advance using the Club’s booking system or by contacting the Club directly.
- A booking is not confirmed until NWGC issues a confirmation.
- The Club may request additional information to ensure the participant meets safety, medical, and physical requirements.
5. Refund Policy
5.1 Cooling‑Off Period (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013)
If the voucher was purchased online, by phone, or off‑premises, the purchaser has a 14‑day right to cancel for any reason and receive a full refund, provided that:
- No flight date has been booked, and
- The cancellation request is received within 14 days of purchase.
5.2 Purchases Made On‑Site
Vouchers purchased in person at the airfield are not subject to the 14‑day cooling‑off period. Refunds are not offered unless required by law.
5.3 After the Cooling‑Off Period
After 14 days, vouchers are non‑refundable, except where NWGC is unable to provide the experience at all (see Section 6).
5.4 Transferability
Vouchers may be transferred to another person at no cost, provided the participant meets all safety and medical requirements.
6. Club Cancellations
NWGC may cancel or postpone a flight due to:
- Weather
- Safety considerations
- Instructor availability
- Airfield restrictions
- Technical issues with aircraft or equipment
If NWGC cancels:
- The voucher holder will be offered a new date.
- No refund is due unless NWGC is unable to provide the experience at all within the voucher validity period.
7. Participant Cancellations
- Participants must give at least 48 hours’ notice if they cannot attend.
- Failure to attend without notice (“no‑show”) may result in the voucher being marked as used.
- Late cancellations may require rebooking at the Club’s discretion.
8. Medical, Weight & Height Requirements
To ensure safe operation of the aircraft:
- Maximum weight: 102 kg (16st)
- Maximum height: 6 ft (183 cm)
- Minimum height: 5 ft (152 cm)
Participants must:
- Be able to enter and exit the cockpit unaided
- Have sufficient mobility to operate safety restraints
- Not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Not fly if advised against by a medical professional
If a participant is unable to fly due to undisclosed restrictions, the voucher may be treated as redeemed.
9. Weather Conditions
Gliding is highly weather‑dependent.
NWGC may cancel or postpone flights at short notice.
Weather‑related cancellations do not entitle the voucher holder to a refund, but the flight will be rebooked.
10. Airfield Rules & Safety
For everyone’s safety:
- Visitors must follow all instructions from NWGC staff and instructors.
- Children must be supervised at all times.
- Dogs must be kept on leads and away from the launch area.
- Only authorised personnel may enter the launch point, runway, or hangar areas.
- Photography is allowed, but drones are strictly prohibited.
NWGC may refuse to fly a participant if they behave in a way that compromises safety.
11. Liability
- NWGC operates under BGA rules and complies with all relevant aviation regulations.
- NWGC is not liable for any loss, damage, or expenses arising from cancellations, delays, or rescheduling, except where required by law.
- Participants undertake the flight at their own risk, acknowledging that gliding is an aviation activity with inherent risks.
12. Data Protection
NWGC processes personal data in accordance with UK data protection law.
Information is used solely for:
- Managing voucher purchases
- Booking and delivering flight experiences
- Safety and operational requirements
- Legal compliance
Full details are available in the Club’s Privacy Policy.
13. Complaints
If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your experience, please contact NWGC in writing.
We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it promptly and fairly.
14. Changes to These Terms
NWGC may update these Terms from time to time.
The version in force at the time of purchase applies to that voucher.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
